Poetry, ~700 chars

In an effort to get people to look
into each other’s eyes more,
and also to appease the mutes,
the government has decided
to allot each person exactly one hundred
and sixty-seven words, per day.

When the phone rings, I put it to my ear
without saying hello. In the restaurant
I point at chicken noodle soup.
I am adjusting well to the new way.

Late at night, I call my long distance lover,
proudly say I only used fifty-nine today.
I saved the rest for you.

When she doesn’t respond,
I know she’s used up all her words,
so I slowly whisper I love you
thirty-two and a third times.
After that, we just sit on the line
and listen to each other breathe.

Even though I am an Android developer and I use Kotlin on a daily basis, I cannot but agree with NewPipe here.

Converting from Java to Kotlin could lead to problems, specially when the !! operator is involved (because the automatic Java -> Kotlin converter puts sometimes the !! in the variables).

Don't do that.

Also, I still think we could keep doing Android apps in Java (specially that we have Java 11 now available for Android development). You don't have to use Kotlin if you don't want to. Don't be fooled.

I got my own :misskey: Instance
Got myself a Matrix Account
Maybe start playing Minecraft online
Start caring about people I never met in real life all over the world

What have you done to me?
:blobcatgooglyholdingitsheadinitshands: I am being sucked into the nice part of the internet. You know this one who isn't big tech companies and people constantly shouting and insulting each other...

how to run the largest social media site in the world

:brain1: pepper site with ads
:brain2: collect user data to make ads more personal
:brain3: accidentally leak that user data to third-parties
:brain4: don't tell users about it
:brain5: intentionally sell that data to third parties
:brain6: don't tell users about it
:brain7: be accomplices to largest misinformation campaigns in history
:brain8: pretend to care about it
:brain9: do nothing about it
:brain10: accidentally delete bgp routes, preventing engineers from badging in to fix the bgp routers

TIL that iphones regularly transmit the Mac addresses of devices attached to the same WiFi network to Apple. In addition to their geographical location of course.

So essentially you can be tracked across all locations where an iPhone is near you (and you haven't disabled your WiFi).

Wow.

Gitea (nightly edition) now has nodeinfo support. One (very tiny) step towards full federation. Thanks to @techknowlogick, @dachary @fedeproxy (and many others) for making this happen!

Today also (coincidentally) happened to be the day of the submission of the NLnet grant application for work on federation.

These are indeed very exciting times, and we are very proud and thankful of the community surrounding Gitea.

Food - vegetarian

Just ate at an ethiopian restaurant in Strasbourg ( called abyssinia )

It was really delicious, but quite spicy so it's not for everybody

The "Matrix Color" formula.

Ironically, being nonlinear, this transformation is not representable by a matrix.

Thank you very much :aiwow:

Thank you very much for looking at my pictures. It supports me a lot.
If any of you can help me to make a bot that posts images automatically, I would be very grateful, I do not understand this at all 😘
If anyone is interested, I am a quiet Russian historian with mental problems. I would like to talk to someone English-speaking, my English is bad, but I'm trying. I do not know what software (messendgers or whatever) is used to communicate in the Anglosphere. I have discord and telegram, can use others.
I am writing a dissertation on how American propaganda corrupted the Soviet Union in order to get a Ph.D. I'm trying to study how we lost to the Americans in the information war. I am not political, but I am interested in political science, history, especially propaganda, religious studies, psychiatry, video games, sociology, anthropology, the CIA and American imperialism. I do not give value judgments, detached scientific interest. I'am really bad at IT and computer stuff, but I'm glad to be part of your community.

I was born on the ruins of the Soviet Union immediately after its collapse, I was a refugee in the Chechen war, and the English language, American brands, American culture on TV accompanied me all my life and I tried to figure out how to live on this fracture of cultures, what is American way of life, and how people who are just like me live in the West. I live in the Far East, near borders of China and North Korea.
I actually can take a $272 ferry to North Korea. They live and work with us, they can be found at construction sites, or at the universities. It's rather surreal, they seem to live in the Stalinist USSR, I can see the way my grandfathers lived a few hours from my house.
So hit me up if you want to talk. I'll be happy.
